Visit Finland

I was asked to bring Chris Delorenzo's charming illustrations to life to populate the website for Visit Finland. I made 7 animations in total, each one imbued with a little piece of Finland's personality.

A bit of both

To make nice sharp images that carried across the roughened line work from Chris's illustrations, I worked in After Effects. This also meant the final results would be easily scalable. However, there were some aspects that benefited from some frame by frame magic, like the flames of the bonfire or the cyclist's dress in the breeze. I simply animated these straight ahead and keyed shape layers to match the drawn frames before locking it all down with hold keyframes.
